After another impulsive move to dye my hair back to a light color, I was again dealing with hair that took hours to fully dry in the Hawaii humidity. Through Youtube and Tiktok, the hype over the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer made me quite curious. I am one with the hand-eye-coordination of a potato, so blow drying and brushing my hair at the same time like a professional hairstylist was never possible – not until this product anyway.
I purchased my blow dryer from Target, although if you click the link you’ll be directed to Amazon.
The brush at a glance is quite hefty in size, by manageable. It comes with four settings: off, cool, low, and high. I personally use low to minimize the amount of heat damage I subject my already damaged hair to. I haven’t used a hair dyer in many years, so I’m not familiar with what is common loudness – to which I found the Revlon blow dryer to be quiet loud, especially in the high setting, but perhaps that is the standard. It is a bit heavy for a weakling like myself but totally manageable.
In my first use, I learned that the center barrel gets rather hot, so avoid touching that area. For your convenience, the top nub offers an ergonomic handle for you to maneuver the brush. In my Youtube video, you’ll see that initially, I was working in a very small section and tightly wrapping the hair as close to the barrel as possible. For my hair type (thin/fine straight hair, I found that it was too tedious to work this way. Instead, I put all my hair down and began working in medium chunks of vertical sections starting from the back of my head. The density of the hair made it easier to wrap the hair around the barrel removing the need to constantly rewrap my hair risking a quick touch to the heated center barrel.
For additional styling, I split my hair down my desired part and curled the ends toward my face using a rolling motion from the midshaft down to the ends to active a ‘c’ curl going towards my face. In styling curtain bangs, I begin by taking both sides and rolling the brush away from my face. Upon releasing the hair, the bangs should gently frame your face. Follow by additional rolling to your desired angle.
